Local blogger Ann Lee had the chance to visit glowbal grill steaks and satay with her brother over the weekend and this is the article she wrote for Me Plus Food:

I’ve been to Glowbal about 3 times, and I can honestly say that I’ve never had a bad meal here, this time was no exception. I decided to take my brother and his family out to dinner at Glowbal for his birthday, even with my soon-to-be 1 year old nephew. We sat out on the patio. We were a bit nervous, because although he doesn’t really cry, he likes to pound on tables, drop things, and scream, but it went well, and he entertained the other customers.

I wanted to try as much as I could, so I ordered 4 tapas to start. I had the Lamp Chop with Honey Glaze ($4.50), Coconut Chicken with Spicy Tropical Glaze ($2.90), Kobe Meatball with Tomato Fondue,($2.90), and I had to do it, I ordered the Wagyu Chuck with Black Sea Salt for ($9.25). I had the Short Rib before, and it was really good too, but I wanted to try all new things. All the satays were served with a thai slaw, ginger white soya, and a hot chinese mustard, which I barely even used. The tapas were good on its own. My favorite of the bunch was the Lamb Chop. Grilled perfectly. The meat was very tender, and had a nice subtle glaze to it.

Dutch fans turned O Lounge into a sea of orange yesterday as they cheered they team to victory. The Netherlands clinched their spot in the The FIFA World Cup final game yesterday by beating Uruguay 3-2. The Netherlands defiantly dominated Uruguay, however it was not an easy win. Fans were up and down in their seats from goal to goal, but as the final seconds clicked away fans got to their feet and screamed with joy. Netherlands Consul General Hans Driesser and his staff were in attendance and after the game had lunch on the COAST patio. “This was a perfect place to watch the match” said Driesser. “Two TVs and a big screen, your staff kept a Heineken in my hand the whole time and the food was delicious. It was wonderful!” No sooner had he finished talking to us and he was whisked away by  CBC and City TV reporters. Over all a good time was had by all!

Today Spain beat Germany and the final teams have been decided, so join us this Sunday July 11th at O Lounge for the final game and celebrate with the world!

The First Annual Yaletown Street Party and Burger Contest went off without a hitch. With bands like Case Closed, street jugglers, The Yaletown Grand Prix and a host of bloggers, how could it be anything but a success?

The amazing line up of bands along with our resident DJ Edwin kept the crowds entertained outside SOCIETY Dining Lounge until the Burger Contest started at 4pm. glowbal grill, The Yaletown Earls, The Hub Restaurant, Section 3, BBQues, The Hamilton Street Grill and SOCIETY Dining Lounge all entered. The burgers were all so amazing that the judges (Richard Wolak, Erin Ireland, John Chow, Raul Pacheco and Cassandra Anderton) found it difficult to decide on a winner. After much deliberation our judges wouldn’t pronounce a ‘best burger’, but rather their favourite…. The Hamilton Street Grill Burger. Hats off to our judges, who took time out of their busy schedules to help us make this event a success.

Cindy Loo and the Band took the stage next and sang the crowd into the evening. It was truly an entertaining day.

Remember this was the 1st annual Yaletown Canada Day Street Party and Burger Contest. Join us next year  as we plan for more bands, more restaurant’s with more burgers and even more celebrity judges.

On Canada Day, Thursday July 1st, the 1200 block of Hamilton Street will be closed to traffic during Yaletown Grand Prix Celebrations to host a full-on Street Party.

Hamilton Street Businesses invite you to join us in bringing fun, food and music to the streets and be a part of the festivities. Hosted outside SOCIETY Dining Lounge, The Yaletown Street Party will be packed with entertainment and events including live music from noon to 9pm, fun contests, and food provided by the best restaurants Yaletown has to offer.

Here are only some of the amazing events you can expect to enjoy this Canada Day:

• 10 musical acts performing between Noon and 9 PM including: Kemal Evans, Sam Mackay, Keys To Phoenix, Cindy Lou Potter and Case Closed

This past Saturday Sanafir was moving to a brand new beat… the musical stylings of our new house drummer Farshad.

The mood was unbelievable, yes Sanafir always has a buzz going on, but with Farshad at the drums you could feel something really special. Even our chefs found it hard to keep from moving to the beat.

This video only gives you a taste of what it was like. You really have to be at Sanafir when Farshad is playing to truly appreciate this experience. Luckily Farshad will be back Saturday July 3rd  with more beats to compliment the dining experience at Sanafir.

Last Friday, June 11th, The Vancouver Aquarium held their signature gala fundraiser “A Night at the Aquarium”, with 100% of the evening’s proceeds going to the Aquarium’s education and conservation activities and COAST Restaurant was honoured to participate.

There is no doubt that the Aquarium is a stunning venue to hold an event and what an evening it was. Vancouver’s elite rubbed elbows with top chefs and restauranteurs from across the country. Among the attendees was COAST’s very own Executive Chef Josh Wolfe and and as always, he put on quite a show.

The COAST presentation table was positioned just by the event entrance, offering everyone the perfect opportunity to try Chef Wolfe’s Spot Prawn Ceviche and share a smile and a few words with this very personable, and talented gentleman. No one was left disappointed.

COAST Restaurant and THE GLOWBAL COLLECTION have a strong relationship with The Vancouver Aquarium, being proud proponents of their Ocean Wise program and we look forward to participating in many more future events with them.
