Vancouver, BC (June 7, 2010): The GLOWBAL COLLECTION is thrilled to announce that Italian Kitchen has been named the best Italian restaurant in the city for the second consecutive year by readers of WHERE Vancouver. The award was presented at WHERE Vancouver’s annual ‘Where to Dine’ awards, May 31.

WHERE provides information on local shopping, dining, cultural attractions and entertainment. Every year, the magazine surveys readers to find out which Vancouver dining hotspots outshine the rest, and in 2008 and 2009 — the readers cast their la dolce vita votes in honour of Italian Kitchen.

“Drop in for a Mixed Antipasto Platter at the dazzling 18-m (60-ft) white marble long bar, and stay for Veal Scaloppine with Braseola, Penne Arrabbiata or Crab-Stuffed Prawns, each matched with a vintage from the well-stocked, glass-walled cellar. Must have: the Spicy Kobe Meatballs,” says WHERE Vancouver.

Since opening in 2007, Italian Kitchen has wowed locals and visitors alike with authentic Italian fare prepared with fresh and seasonal ingredients. Executive Chef Ryan Gauthier creates dishes inspired by the various provinces of Italy, ranging from fresh antipasto selections to richly flavoured pasta and meat platters; there is something for every palate on the diverse menu.

Burgers, milkshakes and cotton candy; SOCIETY Dining Lounge takes childhood favourites and gives them a decidedly grown-up twist. Most of us wouldn’t want to relive the trials and tribulations of our youth, but we surely still want a taste of it and SOCIETY delivers it with a bang.

A great demonstration of this came during the Olympics when 26 students from Elsey Roy Elementary, joined us for lunch during an Olympic field trip. Boisterous and full of energy; these kids were starving. Serving up milkshakes for everyone and turning the TV to a kid-friendly station, Glowbal Group Managing Partner Sean Riley was happy to oblige them all. After lunch was finished, as the children were rounded up for the next stop, their classroom teacher thanked Sean profusely  and assured him that SOCIETY had won over 26 future guests.

Well, 26 hungry children can’t be wrong, so put some extra cheese on my burger, spike my milkshake with Baileys and Kahlua and order me a junkfood platter, I have an inner child to feed!
