Vancouver, BC (January 12, 2010): The GLOWBAL COLLECTION is celebrating the January 12 reopening of its flagship restaurant – newly branded glowbal grill steaks & satay - by offering all guests 50% off lunch entrees for the remainder of January.

When it opened in 2002, glowbal grill and satay bar quickly became a Yaletown dining institution. From leisurely al fresco Sunday brunches on the expansive patio to intimate dinners in the energetic dining room, to even cozier nights spent in the sultry AFTERglow lounge – glowbal has a strong following and has become a neighbourhood anchor and city hotspot.
Proprietors Emad Yacoub and Shannon Bosa-Yacoub have unveiled a new, sleeker version of their first restaurant and Chef Erik Heck has created a new menu to go along with the chic surroundings.
Given the addition of ’steak’ in its moniker, a focus on prime cuts of beef is only natural. The menus are a ‘globally inspired’ combination of regional and exotic ingredients. Although steaks take centre stage, seafood, a variety of sizzling satays and glowbal’s famous spaghetti and Kobe meatballs remain menu staples.

The festivities start Thursday January 14th at 5pm sharp and space is limited, so get there early.  Come and celebrate glowbal grill’s grand re-opening in style.

glowbal grill has always been an integral part of the Yaletown dining scene. Now, as we start renovations in preparation of our January re-launch, we will once again help redefine the Yaletown experience.

To share in our celebration of glowbal’s re-launch, THE GLOWBAL COLLECTION wants you and 30 of your closest friends to win a once in a lifetime private party at AFTERglow. All you have to do to win is tell us your best glowbal grill memory and decide which of your 30 friends gets to join you. We will provide the room, a case of Champagne, canapés, and quite possibly a few more secret surprises – stay tuned for details!

Share your memory in a blog post, photo, video, audio clip, or a Facebook wall post and submit it to glowbal’s Facebook page – be creative and we will give bonus points for video and post interaction. The contest will run from December 17, 2009 to January 9, 2010.

10 finalists will be announced on January 10th, 2010. The finalists and a friend will be invited to the glowbal relaunch VIP media event on January 12th, 2010 from 4 – 6pm where the winner will be announced live! Full contest details are on glowbal’s Facebook page.

Rules

• For finalist selection, we will take into consideration how many people like and comment on your submission – so make sure you get your 30 friends to comment or like it – make them earn the invite!

• You and all of your friends must be 19 years of age or older
• The party is to be held between Sunday and Wednesday, the specific date to be determined after the winner is announced

Brief Description: A fairly glamorous, yet incredibly affordable, restaurant located on Mainland Street, in Yaletown. glowbal (intentional lower g) offers a varied menu with a West Coast influence.

The Glowbal chain of restaurants has really taken Vancouver by storm. Coast, Italian Kitchen, Trattoria, Sanafir and glowbal are all part of the immensely successful Glowbal chain. One of my personal favourites out of this line-up is glowbal.

For those, like B and I, who feel slightly out of place in the ever-so glamorous Yaletown, glowbal can be slightly intimidating to visit. There is quite an emphasis on appearances at glowbal (as in the decor/presentation of food) and this is somewhat reflected in some of the clientele that frequent glowbal. If you’ve ever seen an episode of “The Hill’s” then you’ll have some understanding of what the regulars look like. Bear in mind, that this is the restaurant that is frequented by young, hot, transient Hollywood actors. Thankfully, the servers are always friendly and don’t seem to judge you based on your appearance (or the fact that you haven’t got a scratch of make-up on, as I’ve been known to do).
