14 Gold medals, 7 silver medals, 5 bronze medals, a star studded closing ceremonies and a hockey game we will never forget… There is no doubt that 2010 was the best Winter Olympics ever and Vancouverites earned a gold medal hosting it.

Sadly it all seems to have passed by far too quickly and the city’s Olympic “hangover” has more than settled in.  The Glowbal Group has just what the doctor ordered……..the “Olympic Hangover Party”.

Society Dining Lounge will be hosting a patio bbq with bevies courtesy of Russian Standard Vodka and Pilsner Urquell.  Come grab a burger and a beer and cheer on the boyz as they go for Gold….. again. (flags and cowbells welcome)

The Olympics have been a time of celebration and victory for Vancouverites and Canadians alike. On February 11^th,  the Glowbal Restaurant Group will be launching our Olympic Prize Contest.

Twice a day for each of the 17 days of games, prizes we be offered to our loyal social media fans. This is your chance to win win official Olympic gear, dinner reservations, and gift certificates. To celebrate the launch of our contest we would like to give you all the chance to win lunch and a table for two on the glowbal grill patio, as the Olympic torch passes on Friday afternoon.

Winning couldn’t be easier, just help us come up with name for the contest. The name should reflect our desire to support our Olympic athletes and let people know that we are giving away prizes daily. All submissions must be posted on Twitter no later than noon, Thursday February 11^th, 2010. Please identify each entry with #namethegame in order to be eligible. Once the deadline has been met and all eligible submissions are gathered and a local celebrity (to be announced) will personally decide the winner.

As we can all guess, getting reservations during the Olympics might prove to be a little tricky.  Many people from around the world have already made their reservations, but ironically we Vancouverites might find it difficult to get reservations at the restaurants we want. The Glowbal Collection has found a solution to this dilemma;  an allocation of tables and available reservations at COAST, SOCIETY, Sanafir, Italian Kitchen, Trattoria and glowbal grill will be held just for you…  our fellow Vancouverites.

Not only will we be holding seats at each of our restaurants for you, our loyal followers, but we will also be giving you the chance to win reservations as they become available. Take a peek into the mind of one of Vancouver’s most innovative restaurateurs.

Glowbal Restaurant Group CEO Emad’s unique style, vision and his core business philosophy that “Every single person walking through the door of one of our restaurants is a guest in my house”,
are the focus of this article.

It’s 1:30 on a rainy Tuesday afternoon and milling about the entry to Coast restaurant on Alberni Street is a knot of highly photogenic 30-somethings: a beefy doorman sporting a Bluetooth earpiece, a smiling hostess and a handful of sharply dressed women chatting, hair-flinging and glancing incessantly toward the entryway as they gather purses, coats and umbrellas.


Beyond the departing throng of lunching office workers, the visitor meets a wall of noise and light: conversation ricochets off the white tile floor, accompanied by the thumping beat of electronic dance music; at the centre is the restaurant’s defining feature, a tower of white light rising from a circular bar.


It is controlled chaos, and owner Emad Yacoub wouldn’t have it any other way.
